Kunming

Day 1: Arrival in Kunming

Welcome to Yunnan, the Spring City! Upon your landing, your tour guide and driver will wait for you at the arrival hall, and then chauffeur you to a comfy hotel by a private car and driver. The rest of the day is your free time. You can relax in the hotel or explore the city on your own.
Note:
It’s recommended for you to visit Yunnan Minority Village to kill your time, if you arrive early and don’t want to stay in hotel, it would be a good idea to visit Yunnan Minority Village. You can enjoy the dances, costumes and customs of the various ethnic groups there. If you like history, you can visit the Kunming Museum to learn about the American Flying Tigers of during World War II.

Day 2: Stone Forest, Yuantong Temple

After driving 1.5 hour, we will visit the first wonder of the world— the Stone Forest, which locates 90 kilometers southeast of Kunming. The Stone Forest is the result of the movement of the Earth over millions of years. Besides, you can meet the Naxi people in the Stone Forest area. You surely will be marvel at their folk customs as well as the minority dance. Then you will enjoy a local lunch in a quaint courtyard with the Stone Forest Park in the background.
After lunch, we will drive back to Kunming. In the afternoon, we will visit Yuantong Temple, the largest and oldest Buddhist temple in Kunming. Later, your guide and driver will take you back to the hotel. Have a good rest and welcome your new journey tomorrow.

As one of the must-see attractions in Kunming, you can’t avoid seeing numerous tour groups and tourists during the peak tourist season in the Stone Forest Park. But don't worry, your professional guide will help you find a quiet place with less people and give you a better travel experience.

Kunming - Dali

Day 3: Dali Ancient Town

You will take the morning flight to Dali within one hour. As soon as you arrive, your guide will greet you and you will begin your colorful tour in this city. Your first stop is Xizhou Village, the hometown of bai Nationality. In this village, you can visit some ancient Chinese buildings and see typical Bai traditions and costumes. After that, you will take a horse-drawn carriage to Erhai Lake. The climate of Erhai Lake is very pleasant with a gentle breeze, and you can enjoy the charming scenery of Erhai Lake from the carriage. Later, you will enjoy authentic Yunnan cuisine at a local restaurant
After a short break, you will go to Dali Ancient Town, which locates at the foot of the Cangshan Mountains. Strolling along the Foreigner Street and enjoying leisure time with the locals is undoubtedly the most relaxed time in your journey. If you’re lucky, you can also find a Chinese-style Catholic Church which is built in 1927 in a quiet corner of the town. Tonight you’ll stay in Dali Ancient town and enjoy the beautiful night.
Note:
Three Pagodas locates at the foot of Cangshan Mountain facing to the Erhai Lake. It has a history of over 1,800 years and is regarded as the landmark of Dali. The Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle. If you have interest, come and have a look.

Dali - Lijiang

Day 4: Lijiang Ancient Town Tour

Today, your guide and driver will escort you from Dali to Lijiang. After enjoying lunch, you'll start your memorable Lijiang tour from Lijiang Ancient Town. Most of the people living in Lijiang ancient town are Naxi minority. It is a historical town showing you the minority culture, the local people’s daily life and natural beauty. And you can climb up to Lion Hill to overlook the whole town.
After a short rest, you will pay a visit to the Black Dragon Pool Park, where the natural scenery is very beautiful. Besides, you can overlook the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the Black Dragon Pool Park. Have a good rest in Lijiang Ancient Town tonight!
Note:
As one of the most famous scenic spots in Lijiang, Lijiang Ancient Town attracts tourists every year during the peak tourist season. Here are some tips for escaping the crowds:
1. Stay overnight in Lijiang Ancient Town and start early. Most tourists will visit several specific attractions of Lijiang Ancient Town. Get up early and find the best spot with the help of your guide before there are too many people.
2. Stay overnight in Shuhe Ancient Town. Although it is not as famous as Lijiang Ancient Town, Shuhe ancient town is still full of local customs and practices, and has fewer tourists.

Day 5: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Baisha Murals

After breakfast, you will board a private vehicle to the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. A superb cable car is arranged for you to experience the feeling of being three kilometers above sea level. On the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you will find yourself in heaven, marveling at all kinds of natural beauty.
On your way back to Lijiang, you will have lunch in Baisha Village. The mysterious Baisha Murals at Baisha Village have been alluring a great number of tourists every year. The murals are painted more than 1,000 years ago, showing the life stories of major Religions in China, including Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Along the way you will also have a chance to visit a local herb clinic of Dr. Ho to learn about the quintessence of Chinese culture—The Chinese Medicine. Tonight you will stay in Lijiang.

Lijiang - Shangri-La

Day 6: Tiger Leaping Gorge

Today you will drive to Shangri-La. Along the way you will visit Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is favored by world hiking lovers. It is one of the deepest and most amazing gorges in the world, with the mighty Jinsha River flowing into the narrow, stone-centered valleys. It is said that the gorge is so narrow that a tiger is able to jump to the other side, giving it its name
After lunch, you will continue the drive to Shangri-La. After a long day of traveling, you can relax in the hotel and adapt to the high altitude environment.
Note:
The best time to go to Tiger Leaping Gorge is in May and early June, when the mountains are decorated with plants and flowers, it is very beautiful. June and August are also good times to visit tiger Leaping Gorge, when the scenery is the most spectacular. But since it’s the rainy season, the steps could be slippery, so be careful.

Day 7: Songzanlin Lamasery, Pudacuo National Park

Today’s sightseeing starts from the famous Songzanlin Lamasery. Songzanlin Lamasery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist Lamasery in Yunnan. It is built in the style of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, so it is also called the "Little Potala Palace". There you can not only enjoy the magnificent architectural art, but also gain an in-depth understanding of Tibetan Buddhism through the precious cultural relics inside. At noon, we will arrange Tibetan family visits to bring you in close contact with local people and enjoy an authentic Tibetan lunch.
After lunch, you will visit the Pudacuo National Park Praised as “the last pure land in China,” Pudacuo National Park retains a well-preserved ecosystem. Stepping into Pudacuo National Park is like stepping into a fairy tale. It comprised of alpine meadows, jade-like lakes and wetlands, virgin forests and pastures, and is the home to lots of wild animals. Lake Bita and Lake Shudu are must-see scenery in this park.

When visiting the Songzam Lamasery, please do not point at any idols or take photos.

Day 8: Departure
