    Detailed Itinerary

    Shanghai

    Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai, Jade Buddha Temple

    You shall arrive in Shanghai in the morning at the airport. Your guide will be there waiting. For the rest of the day, you will first visit the famous Jade Buddha temple, where you can admire the 2-meter-high Buddha figure made from a single piece of jade.
    Then in the evening, a welcome meal will be served in a typical Chinese restaurant.

    Day 2: Nanjing Road, The Bund, Old Town, Dong Tai Road

    In the morning, you can stroll from Nanjing Road—the lively shopping street, to the famous bank promenade Bund, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Shanghai's modern economic district of Pudong and its breathtaking skyline. After lunch, you can walk through the historic old town where there are many streets and small shops until you reach the Dong Tai Road antique market. In the evening, you can explore the Xintiandi entertainment area, built in a historic neighborhood.

    Day 3: Tunxi Old Street

    In the morning, you will take the express train to Huangshan. After your arrival in the city of Huangshan, you can take a relaxing stroll through the historic old street, along which the houses can date back to the Ming Dynasty.

    Huangshan - Yellow Mountain

    Day 4: Hiking on the Yellow Mountain

    After breakfast, we will drive to the Huangshan Mountain (also known as the Yellow Mountain). The bizarre stone massifs, gnarled pines and the sea of clouds characterize the Yellow Mountain. These extraordinary scenes have inspired generations of poets and painters. During your hike, you will pass narrow stone stairs, old temples and idyllic pavilions. In addition, you can appreciate wonderful views of the beautiful landscape and the imposing mountains. Spending the night at the summit would be exhilarating. 
    The hike will last approximately 2.5 -3 hours; 6.5 km, 800 meters uphill.

    Yellow Mountain - Huangshan

    Day 5: Yellow Mountain. Hongcun Village

    In the morning, you can expect a breathtaking sunrise, which is the absolute highlight of your hiking trip in China. After breakfast, our descent begins. From the valley, we drive back to Huangshan City. On the way, we will stop to visit the traditional Chinese village of Hongcun. 
    The hike will last approximately 2.5 - 3 hours; 7 km, 800 meters downhill.

    Day 6: Baoshi Mountain, Hefangjie old town

    After breakfast, you will take the express train to the old imperial city—Hangzhou. In the afternoon, an easy hike to Baoshi Mountain awaits you. At the top of the mountain, you can overlook the city and the picturesque West Lake.

    Day 7: Lingyin Temple, Longjing Tea Plantation

    After breakfast, you will visit the impressive Lingyin Temple, the most famous Buddhist monastery of the Zen school in southern China. Then you will go to visit a green tea plantation, where the famous Longjing Tea has been produced for centuries. Longjing Tea in Hangzhou is regarded as the best tea in China. Therefore, you shall not forget to taste it! 
    In the afternoon, we fly to Guilin.

    Guilin - Xianggong Mountain - Xingping - Yangshuo

    Day 8: Li River, Xianggong Mountain, Xingping, Yangshuo

    Today a hike along the picturesque Li River awaits you. We are driving to Xianggong Mountain first and then walking for about 3.5 hours to Xingping. While trekking, you will pass the green hills, rice fields, bamboo forests and water buffaloes.
    After arriving in Xingping, we will drive to a fishing village that Bill Clintons had visited in 1998. The scenery in the village is like a picture book, with buffaloes, cormorants and bamboo groves nestling between the mountains. Then we continue to Yangshuo, where you can stroll through the lively market after dinner. And today’s trip ends. 
    Today’s hike will take approximately 3.5 - 4 hours, 10-12 km.

    Yangshuo - Longji

    Day 9: Mount Crescent, Longji Rice Terraces

    Yangshuo is known for the enchanting surrounding landscapes, the clear water and the fertile land. Karst hills protrude from the ground everywhere, and the farmers plough the fields with their water buffaloes, which create a special atmosphere.
    Today's hike takes you through the beautiful landscape along the Yulong River. You will stop at traditional farming villages and marvel at the old houses dating back to the Qing Dynasty. During the hike, you are going to climb the Crescent Mountain, which owes its name to a large crescent-shaped hole in the summit. 
    After lunch, we will drive to the rice terraces in Longji. You will be accommodated in an inn in the middle of the impressive rice terraces. Moreover, in the evening, you can take a relaxing hike to the neighboring villages.

    Longji - Xi'an

    Day 10: Hiking in the Rice Terrace

    After breakfast, a 2-hour hike will offer views of the extraordinarily beautiful mountain ranges in this region. You will also experience the everyday lives of ethnic minorities of Zhuang and Yao. After lunch, you will go to the airport in Guilin, from where you fly to Xi'an. Our staff will welcome you at the Xi'an airport and then accompany you to the hotel.

    Day 11: Terracotta Warriors, Muslim Quarter, Great Mosque, Big Wild Goose Pagoda

    After breakfast, you can visit the Terracotta Armies. The first Chinese emperor, in his lifetime, built this gigantic mausoleum with thousands of clay soldiers to protect him after his death. After lunch, you will return to the city center of Xi'an. Then you can stroll through the Muslim quarter and visit the Chinese-style Great Mosque. At the end of the day, you will visit the landmark of the city—the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built in 652 AD.

    Xi'an - Huashan - Beijing

    Day 12: Mount Huashan

    After breakfast, we will drive to Huashan, which is the highest and steepest mountain of the five sacred Buddhist mountains in China. Take the cable car up and hike in the most beautiful places of Huashan. During your hike, you can enjoy the stunning and picturesque landscape from an excellent view. 
    In the afternoon, we will return to Xi'an. And after dinner, we will take the night train (sleeper, 4-bed compartment) to Beijing.

    Day 13: Sommer Palace

    You will arrive in the Chinese capital in the morning, and the guide will meet you at the train station. After a delicious breakfast in the hotel, you will visit the famous Summer Palace. In the former summer residence of several Chinese emperors, you can get to know the ancient Chinese culture in all its splendors and greatness.

    Day 14: Imperial Palace, Temple of Heaven

    After breakfast, you will visit the Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City). This former imperial palace with its numerous buildings, avenues, pavilions and temples, is the largest temple complex in the world. After lunch, we continue to the Temple of Heaven, where you can stroll through the extensive park and enjoy the impressive temples.

    Beijing - Jinshanling - Beijing

    Day 15: Hiking on the Jinshanling Greatwall

    Today, you are going to the world-famous Great Wall at Jinshanling Pass, from where you will start the excursion. The Jinshanling wall in the imposing mountain landscape is still very original and blends itself with nature in a very impressive way. In addition, the view from above is simply unforgettable!
    You will explore the wall in a very sweaty and demanding way, but at the same time very memorable. The trekking tour ends at Gubeikou; afterwards we drive back to the city center. We have made a reservation for you in a Chinese specialty restaurant, where you can taste the famous Peking duck. 
    The 147-kilometer trip will last for about 4 - 6 hours.
